Art Bonker:

Two of Art Bonker’s greatest loves were Radio Control Airplanes and the MOB. Artie was generous, kind, hardworking, funny, and an all around great guy. He was king of the one liner; he could always make you laugh. He was generous almost to a fault. Art held the office of president of the MOB a couple of different times, but even when he was not officially the president he did almost the same amount of work for the club. Art lead the MOB through its darkest hour, when we lost our field in Conklin. He was the main driving force behind the rental of the current field in Greene. Had a lesser person been at the helm I could have easily seen the MOB falling apart and disappearing. So when Art Bonker passed away in November of 2000 the MOB decided to celebrate the memory of him by naming the MOB Field in his honor.

How to Find The MOB Flying Site (Bonker Field):

GPS Coordinates: N 42 deg 17.868' W 75 deg 43.633'

From Binghamton take I-88 East to Port Crane Exit 3 (Chenango Valley State Park exit). Turn left onto route 369 which turns into route 79 go 7.0 miles take a left onto Page Brook Road (County Route 9). Continue on Page Brook Road for 3.6 miles and take a left onto Gardener Road, (Page Brook Rd. bends to right and Gardener road comes off almost straight with a red barn on the right side). Take a left at the top of hill and bare to the right as Gardner Road becomes Stein Road. Our driveway is 1/2 mile on the right, a long gravel driveway up and over a hill.
From the Village of Greene take Route 206 East to Stein Road (sign for Cook Park on the corner). Take a right on Stein Rd. Our Flying field is approx. 2 miles on the left (gravel driveway up a hill).
